SERBIAN-SLOVAK CULTURAL RELATIONS AND NATIONAL IDENTITIES

Serbian-Slovak relations have a long and rich history, intertwined with multidimensional political, diplomatic, economic, commercial, cultural-artistic and scientific-educational cooperation. The organization of the scientific conference and the preparation of this thematic collection represent the first step in joint scientific cooperation between three renowned institutions: the Institute for Political Studies in Belgrade, the Archives of Vojvodina in Novi Sad and the Faculty of Philosophy of the Maciej Bel University in Banska Bystrica. The continuity of good relations without hiatus that we have been recording for the last two centuries between Serbs and Slovaks represents a kind of sociological and social phenomenon that is, in a certain sense, a rarity in the area of ​​Southeast Europe.

The collection contains sixteen papers written in Serbian, Slovak and English. The publication of this collection is, in a certain sense, a pioneering undertaking, since the collection of papers represents a thorough presentation of the ties between the two peoples and lays a stable foundation for further comprehensive cooperation, which is also manifested through the fact that this is the first thematic collection dealing with Serbian-Slovak cultural ties, and which was formally published in co-edition by the previously mentioned institutions from the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Serbia.
